leashes – not all biothane is created equal
The material your leash is made of makes a far greater impact on your ability to handle your dog than you think. Biothane is stronger than leather. Its less expensive than leather. Is cleaned easily with soap and water. Won’t get stiff or 6ftstinky. BUT not all biothane is created equal! I use the Viper brand exclusively as it has a nice thickness to it, strong stitching and my favorite, brass hardware. I have the 6ft, 10ft, 15ft and 33 ft all in the 5/8 inch. slip leashes, materials matter!
When it comes to slip leashes biothane is by far the safest. It has a stopper that does not move! It is also is flat and does not dig into the dogs neck like a roope does and is much easier to grip for you as well! I use the jellypet brand. Depending on the size of your dog will determine the thickness but for most dogs I find the 5/8W to be the best. For small dogs the 3/8W is better
grooming for double coated dogs!
Growing up training K9s one of my chores was to groom/brush the dogs. All 40-60 of them! I have been through EVERY product out there and at times had 5-7 brushes to try to get all the hair. Then, my daughter introduced me to the main brush in this instructional video and I have never had such an easy time getting all of my double-coated dogs hair into a trash bag and not on my floor and couch. Indestructible fun for all ages and sizes!
The Buster Cube came out almost 30 years ago. It was an awesome way for dogs to have enrichment indoors. Then, it disappeared. I have finally found what is the closest to the original! My Ellie LOVES it as do many of my clients.
the only dog training book i recommend
Don’t let the title fool you! This book is jam packed full of behavioral science and then relates it to dogs, their behaviors and some training. We used it as a textbook for our officers that would come through for certification. It should be on every trainers and owners must read list as it will not dissapoint.
